Charles Dickens

Benoit Derrier Dickens's name is associated mainly with London, but he was an avid traveller and visited many places in the UK, in Europe and in North America. He might even have travelled to your hometown (link to maps of his travels). Hundreds of streets, squares and estates are named after him, and there are of course innumerable places that are simply 'Dickensian'.

We would like to create the largest non-for-profit image collection of places and buildings associated with Charles Dickens. If you have images of
  • places or buildings Dickens visited, lived in or stayed
  • memorials, references and public art relating to Dickens
  • locations that strike you as 'Dickensian'
please send your photos to gallery@dickens2012.org, ideally with a short description.

Every month we will exhibit an image of the month, so watch this space to check out if your image has been chosen.

If you are planning a Dickens-related school activity we would be happy to discuss photography projects with you.

By sending us your images you give Dickens 2012 permission to
  • copy, distribute, display, and perform the work
  • to make derivative works
  • use the image for non-for-profit purposes

We reserve the right to refuse images should they be inappropriate for or irrelevant to this site. We may also reject images if they contain material still under copyright.
